Falmouth Week - Eclipse & Aerial Display
On Wednesday 12 August 2026, the much-loved Falmouth Week aerial display coincides with a rare partial solar eclipse, Cornwall's most significant since 1999.

From 6pm, three world-class display teams take to the skies above the bay. The Royal Navy Raiders parachute team trail coloured smoke as they free-fall towards the water. The Flying Comrades bring tight formation aerobatics in their Yak-52 aircraft. And the record-breaking AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers perform handstands atop vintage Boeing Stearman biplanes at 150mph.

Overhead, the moon will cover up to 95% of the sun, with first contact around 6:18pm and eclipse maximum expected at approximately 7:16pm, continuing until around 8:10pm. It's a rare chance to see a major aerial display and a significant solar eclipse in the same evening sky.
The mid-week aerial display is traditionally one of the busiest dates in the Falmouth Week calendar, drawing thousands to the seafront. With the eclipse adding an extra layer of interest this year, demand is expected to be higher than ever.

Please note that it's never safe to look directly at the sun, even during a partial eclipse. Anyone wishing to view it safely should bring their own ISO 12312-2 certified eclipse glasses, as ordinary sunglasses offer no protection. Aerial displays remain subject to weather and flying conditions, and the eclipse depends on clear skies.

River Fal & Creeks
Join our friendly crew aboard our new 100 seater boat the ‘Dixie Belle’ as we explore the beautiful landscape and scenic waters of the River Fal and it’s surrounding creeks. Our new boat has a top deck viewing area, a toilet and a licenced bar. During the tour you will see Falmouth docks, Pendennis and St. Mawes castles, Mylor creek, Pill creek, Trelissick gardens, River Fal mussel farm, the King Harry ferry, numerous large moored vessels and a smugglers cottage said to be over 500 years old. There’s also a chance you’ll spot some of the various wildlife that inhabits the area such as egrets, herons and seals.

If you’re stuck for time or only looking for a short cruise then this 45 minute harbour cruise is perfect for you! On this cruise around Falmouth harbour you’ll see many places of interest such as Falmouth Maritime Museum, Falmouth docks, Pendennis and St. Mawes castles, Carrick Roads, St. Anthony Lighthouse (the original recording place of 1980’s children’s program ‘Fraggel Rock’), Falmouth Bay, the village of Flushing and possibly a seal or two, plus much much more!

All rods, reels and tackle are supplied, with tuition for those who have never fished before.
